Forest School Leader Training Level 3
The Level 3 course is designed for those who would like to set up and run a forest School programmes. This is the traditional, fully outdoor immersive course taking place over 8 days in National Trust Ancient Woodland. This course is a National Qualification, accredited by the Forest School Association and the Institute of Outdoor Learning. This course may be used by applicants to the FSA Recognised Forest School Provider scheme (this applies to anyone awarded this qualification in the past).
8 days practical training + on site assessment + optional portfolio workshop + independent study to complete portfolio.

On the Level Three course you will :-
Entry Qualification Required:
Level 2 Qualification in Education, Youth Work, Child care etc.
OR Level 2 Qualification in Forest School, Countryside, Woodland Management etc. AND at least two years experience with client groups. Disclosure and Barring Service checking and an appropriate First Aid qualification is usually required to run Forest Schools.

- 8 days of practical training, after which (subject to assessment) you will be able to run FS sessions and use tools and fire.
- 1 day of portfolio workshop which you can attend online or in person, or choose email feedback instead.
- Full support, feedback and contact via email or telephone with your tutor during your portfolio writing up phase.
- An assessment visit from your tutor to observe your Forest School sessions with free consultation for your practice or setting.
- Use your own setting or ours for Forest School sessions (ideal for freelancers).
- A Nationally Recognised Certificate.
- A Logo (see above) which can be used on your emails or website.
- A full, ongoing CPD programme and skill share days.
- Opportunities for additional qualifications to add to your original training to extend your skills in Neurodiversity & Challenging Behaviour; Coastal School; Rivers; Play Practice; SEN; Food & Fire; Bushcraft; Tracking; Specific Tools, Knots.

- Support Learning, Play and Development in the Outdoors
- Observe and Evaluate Outdoor Learning
- Use Natural Resources Sustainably
- Teach Outdoor Practical Skills
- Lead Forest School Programmes to the National Standard
Course requirements
On the Level Three course you will :-
- Attend training days which consist of both theory and practical tasks.
- Run a Forest School Programme in your chosen setting.
- Have a work-based assessment.
- Complete a portfolio for assessment.
- There is a one day optional portfolio workshop about three quarters of the way through the course. This wil be delivered online. In addition to the course dates, the lead tutor is available during the course for tutorial help by telephone or email.
