Brightwood Training has developed an Alternative Provision Programme focussing on Resilience.
We currently successfully deliver this programme for students with Social Emotional and Mental Health needs including ADHD, Autism, ASD, depression, anxiety, trauma and school exclusion.
Resilience is our ability to adapt successfully in the presence of risk and adversity*.
For students who require alternative educational provision, their circumstances mean that developing this capability is crucial to coping with personal, medical, school and home-life.
Without resilience, there are severe long term consequences on their mental and physical health; ability to live an independent life; maintain positive and healthy relationships and ability to keep themselves safe.
Resilience and Reconfigure© is a programme which builds three life skills sequentially which combine to develop personal resilience.
Term 1: Stand Strong
Baseline assessments.
Analysis of Needs
Trust, team and individual development.
Stand strong in the face of stress and adversity.
Term 2: Persevere
Develop personal skills and strategies.
Develop the ability to bounce back following challenging times.
Trust, team and individual development.
Term 3: Reconfigure
To grow from difficult experiences.
Development plan for the future.
To practise and master personal strategies for resilience.
To practise and master ability to work in teams.
We blend expertise from Forest School, Outdoor Learning and Team Development Training to deliver this programme in our Forest areas and on school sites.
Students have the opportunity to gain John Muir, the Institute of Outdoor Award or the Level 1 Outdoor Skills alongside this programme.
