Wow! tomorrow will be the last session of the term - what a year at forest school!
The heady smells and colours of autumn, snowy fun in winter, the sea of white flowered cow parsley in spring and a summer term of hot weather and fantastic tool skills!
So tomorrow will be a surprise of our favourite things - the 'best bits' of forest school this year. I am looking forward to seeing all of you before the holidays and meeting some older siblings!
Regulars, I have counted you in for tomorrow. If you don't come regularly, then please let me know if you are coming tomorow so I can get the right number of resources.
Friday in the woods will be a treasure hunt! We will be packing our expedition bags, using natural materials to make flag markers and maps ready for our adventures! And we should be the perfect temperature in the cool of the woods! As usual there will also be stories, snacks and the fantastic smell of the campfire!
The summer holiday session is on 26th July- so all those siblings who've been missing out can come! Booking is absolutely essential for this one, places are limited to 15 children. (Not including under 2s). We already have 7 booked in so please book early.
If there is demand, we can run a bow and arrow making session during the holiday...so let me know if you're interested (family forest school on Facebook is a good place to do this) or email me, with date suggestion and well give it a go. I need 8 minimum to run a session.
On Friday the sun will be shining again, so we will be exploring the long grass meadow to net bugs and flying insects, identifying some then making our own out of natural materials. Of course there will be time to practise some bug skills of our own so the tree swings, climbing ropes, spider web and slack lines will be out again in our secret forest. There will be plenty of time to chill out with homemade flapjack and drinks, Imaginative stories, mud kitchen and games too. If you have a net (cheap fishing nets are ideal) then bring it along!!
Knowledge of the world, visual identification skills, physical and gross and fine motor skills, cooperation and imagination will all be covered in your child's development this week -plus a whole heap of other things that they will come up with. And they will be so chilled out after a morning in the woods.
Remember the sunscreen and hats this week, and long sleeves, trousers and closed toe footwear to be comfortable in the woods.
Can't wait to see you all again!
Tomorrow will be all about moving through the forest..Are you a monkey or a slithery snake? Or a climbing bear? Do you love making tree swings? Slack-lining? Roly-poly slopes? Balance trails with ropes? Treasure hunts? Stepping stone trails? Then tomorrow might be just the day for you! We may just get the parachute out too!
Lots of activities for little ones to big ones. We will also be roasting marshmallows on the campfire and will have our usual activity story and homemade flapjacks and drinks for the adults!
